If you see this Graydon, send your website for readers. Thanks for your comment. Here is a good link for environmental defence and their info on personal care and cosmetics.

Good job mom.
Another point worth mentioning is the way that research practices are inherently discriminatory in their exclusion of women of colour as subjects. Systemic discrimination results in researchers gathering samples of convenience on University campuses, populated by mostly white, privileged people. Ungeneralizable findings are then shared with the scientific community which (sometimes) lead to advancements which in in no way benefit women of colour.
The disease certainly doesn't discriminate, but we do.

Well said Anne. That is why I do what I do... and why Environmental Defence had an Eco Beauty Market yesterday as part of their Just Beautiful campaign. Once people get their eyes get opened (and they feel duped and scared) they need to know that there really are wonderful personal care products on the market- that are good for you, beautifully packaged and not insanely priced. Fortunately Canada has some really good manufacturers (including me at Clinical Luxury :)

Anne, thanks, and I very much agree. Just a few days ago I declined to contribute toward this cause for the same reasons you share.

a well worth while read and informative. my bra clinic lady, barb chapman gives a great eye opening talk when giving her bra clinic (sort of like a tupperware party). a proepr fitting bra can indeed help with breast cancer helpfulness as by a proepr fitting bra the blood flow is not restricted which is part of the cause and also takes the strain off other body parts also adding to blood flow problems among other things which cna contriubute to cancer particularaly in the breast.

Great rant, Anne.

Look out Rick Mercer! Really important perspective. Who's taking up the cause of preventative medicine, encouraging us to take radical responsibility for our health?

well said Anne, thank you, I have had a discomfort with the pervasivesness of this fundraising campaign. You support my discomfort. I just finished reading 'Polio" an exhaustive report of the history of the disease, FDR's succombing to it, the creation of the march of Dimes and the incredible jealousies bewteen researchers. very thought provoking.
